The search engines are dependent on what content you use within your website to understand its relevance when assessing where to place it in their Search Engine Results Pages [“SERPs”].
If we look at Google and Bing as the major search engines, their spider bots crawl websites to see how they are built and what they are about. If your content is not written correctly, does not contain the correct keywords and phrases or is too thin (not enough content), then the search engines will not know where to place your website within their results.
If, for example, your website is about widgets in Cornwall and your content does not have relevant terms and phrases within it, the chances of your website being returned in the SERPs are very much diminished.
Importantly, your content is the voice of your website and not all websites want to send out the same message. In writing for your site we will take time to ascertain the message you want to convey and be sympathetic to both your sector and visitors.
There is a real strategy when writing for the web. Since Google introduced its Hummingbird algorithm, much more emphasis has been placed on the quality and quantity of content within a website page. Google is wanting to return search results that are of use to its visitors and have authority within their subject.
You may well have a great looking website, but if the search engines cannot determine its relevance within their SERPs then many of your potential visitors will never find it.
We have written content for a wide variety of sectors and are retained by many clients for their ongoing blog and article writing needs.
Working with many smaller web design agencies can mean you have to write your web content yourself. It is not until someone sits down and has to draft pages of web copy before they realise what a specialist job it really is. Even when they have written the content, it may not be how the search engines expect it to be written and completely miss the mark for relevance.
Even if you have decided not to use us for your web design and web development work, we are always happy to speak about content writing and strategy.
Our copywriting services do not end with a website. We also write for “real world” media also such as magazine articles, direct marketing materials, brochures and white papers.
